Repubicans Dig Deep for Dirt

How low will the GOP go in their quest for fuel to feed negative ad campaigns? With a large budget and the will to dig, the Republicans plan a flood of negative ads against Democratic candidates before the November election.

From the 9/10/06 Washington Post:
The National Republican Congressional Committee, which this year dispatched a half-dozen operatives to comb through tax, court and other records looking for damaging information on Democratic candidates, plans to spend more than 90 percent of its $50 million-plus advertising budget on what officials described as negative ads.

The KY3 Politcal Blog reported on a push poll being conducted in Lawrence County spreading lies and disinformation about conservative Democratic Rep. Charley Dake (#132). Dr. Dake is a well-liked and respected veterinarian, and it will be interesting to see if voters respond to such tactics, or if they will ignore the crapola and give him another term.
