GOP Funds Green Party in PA Senate Race

This interesting little tidbit from http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/001256.php exposing GOP supporters as the major donors to the Green Party's senatorial candidate who would oppose Rick Santorum in Pennsylvania this fall. Of $66,000 in contributions, apparently only $30 came from a Green Party supporter.

It is disheartening to see the Green Party stoop so low and take this money. In a close race, a few votes for the Green Party could send Rick Santorum back to Washington for six more long years. Third parties should not allow themselves to be pawns in Rove-style tricky maneuvering.

And Republicans gripe when the Constitution Party and Libertarian Party, "steal" their votes.

We heard the hand-wringing over Nader "stealing" votes from Democrats, last election cycle.

This assumes a dangerous precedent: The vote is property of either the Reps or Dems, and by extention, assumes ownership of the VOTER.

Contrary to the government's opinion... nobody owns *me*, OR my vote.

Lib Guy, I think you missed my point. If the GOP is funding the Green Party, is it really the Green Party? I don't think so. That makes them a pawn in the GOP chess game. I would love to see the third parties become strong enough to win more elections. Some of my friends voted for Nader and I respect that choice, unless of course Nader was financed by the GOP.

I apologize for changing topics, Betty. However... if Dems were financing Constitution or Libertarian candidates, would the Republicans not be upset?

Glad to hear you're a third-party supporter; some Dems are still angry that Nader "cost" Gore the election, which goes back to my "stealing votes" fallacy-breaker.

Have a government-approved day!
